Support the Mission of the Tipitina's Foundation to restore New Orleans' irreplaceable music community and preserve Louisiana's unique musical cultures. The 501c3 organization focuses its efforts on four major programs: Instruments A Comin' Purchases instruments for New Orleans school band programs. Sunday Music Workshops Let students play with and learn from the best musicians in the city. Tipitina's Internship Program Teaches students all aspects of the music industry. Tipitina's Music Office Co-Op's Statewide facilities provide business development and job skills training for musicians and other digital media professionals. Congratulations to Roy and Jan Edwards, winners of the Community Catalyst Contest! The San Bernard River, nicknamed the Singing River, in southern Brazoria County, Texas wasn't singing—its mouth was clogged with sand—and the community that lives along its banks was suffering. That's where Roy and Jan Edwards came in. The Edwards just couldn't watch the community and river they loved disappear. They rallied their friends and neighbors to form the Friends of the River San Bernard. Through this organization, Roy and Jan have worked tirelessly to raise awareness of the river's plight and lobbied the US Army Corps of Engineers to open the river this fall. As true community catalysts, Roy and Jan have designated their cash prize to build picnic tables for the Friends of the River Community Center, just in time for all of their spring and summer events.
